The JCU International Merit Stipend provides fortnightly payments of A$400 to assist with expenses throughout the duration of study at JCU, providing a strong GPA is maintained.

Scholarship eligibility is automatically assessed during the admissions process. Eligible candidates will receive an offer for their program of study and the International Merit Stipend concurrently.

James Cook University 2023-2024 International Merit Stipend For African Students - Australia for Bachelor Founded in 1970, James Cook University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Townsville (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Queensland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, James Cook University (JCU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. James Cook University (JCU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • The International Merit Stipend is for eligible high achieving students from Africa.
  • Some programs are ineligible for the International Merit Stipend. This includes, but is not limited to, end on honours degrees, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Veterinary Science, and online and non-award programs. Australia Awards students and SACM students and all other government scholarships/sponsorships covering full tuition fees, international students transferring from joint programs, and study abroad and exchange students are not eligible.
