National University of Science and Technology Grants

International Student Scholarship Program Founded in 1991, National University of Science and Technology is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium-sized city of Bulawayo (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Matabeleland North. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Zimbabwe, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 9,000-9,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. National University of Science and Technology (NUST) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 28 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Zimbabwean higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

There are two different target groups that are eligible to participate in the International Student Scholarship Program.

Group I:

Full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in a technical field or students who have been conditionally accepted into a technical field degree program but need to improve their Russian language skills before entering the program. This group also includes Master’s dual degree program students and students studying in one or our four eligible English-language Master’s programs: Quantum Physics for Advanced Materials Engineering; Multicomponent Nanostructured Coatings. Nanofilms; Advanced Materials Science; and Advanced Metallic Materials and Engineering.

Group II:

Exchange graduate students from partner universities studying or participating in one of the training programs taught in English at MISiS.

The candidate has to meet the following requirements for participation:

  • Possesses a minimum academic average score of 4,0 on a scale of 5,0 at previous school(s) and must have received high marks (4,0 or higher on a 5,0 scale) in major subjects
  • Is not a citizen of the Russian Federation, a CIS country, or Georgia
  • Does not have a criminal record in the Russian Federation
  • Does not currently have any other grants (scholarships) for study

International Student Scholarship benefits include:

  • Free tuition to the National University of Science and Technology “MISiS” during the entire program of study
  • Priority for rooms in student residence halls
  • A stipend that student will use to cover housing
  • A stipend that student will use to pay for mandatory health insurance

National University of Science and Technology Scholarships for International Students in Joint Master’s Programs

The scholarship, which is designed to cover 1 or 2 semesters (not exceeding 10 months) with a starting date of September 1, 2014, provides or grants:

  • Free tuition to the National University of Science and Technology “MISiS” to study in one of the programs taught in English: Quantum Physics for Advanced Materials Engineering; Multicomponent Nanostructured Coatings. Nanofilms; Advanced Materials Science; and Advanced Metallic Materials and Engineering.
  • Priority for rooms in student residence halls (ranked #1 among all residence hall facilities in Moscow!)
  • A stipend that student will use to cover housing
  • A stipend that student will use to pay for mandatory health insurance (if not covered by home country or institution)
  • Funds amounting to 23 000 rubles (~460€) per month
