  • The applicants must demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of Sudanese medieval history and archaeology, as well as a solid experience in textile research.

Offered Benefits

The postdoctoral candidates selected to be appointed at the Saxo Institute will be provided a salary starting at DKK 17,800 (Euros 2,300) per month plus a 17,1% contribution to the pension scheme by the University of Copenhagen.

  • Supporting Documents:  The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Cover letter (max. 1 page) specifying how the applicant‡s qualifications and experiences match the overall research aims of Fashioning Sudan.
  • Research proposal (max. three pages) describing how the applicant would design a study of medieval dress practices in ancient Sudan and Nubia.
  • Curriculum Vitae (with the applicant‡s email and phone number).
  • Documentation of qualifications (examination certificates, PhD diploma, etc.).
  • 1-3 enclosed publications
  • Admission Requirements:  The applicants must have research qualifications at least corresponding to those achieved through a successfully completed PhD. 
  • Language Requirement:  The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests: 
  • IELTS – 6.5 
  • TOEFL IBT – 83 
  • CAE/CPE – C2
