The main purpose of this programme is to provide financial support for those eligible students who are going to take part in a PhD degree in the Centre for Decentralized Digital Economy – AI/Computer Vision/Blockchain.

International PhD Studentships in DECaDE Centre for the Decentralized Digital Economy, UK Founded in 1966, University of Surrey is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Guildford (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South East England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Surrey is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Surrey offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: PhD Studentships within DECaDE: Centre for the Decentralized Digital Economy – AI/Computer Vision/Blockchain
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Hold a first class or 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in an appropriate discipline (e.g. engineering, computer science, signal processing, applied mathematics, and physics)
  • Are able to demonstrate excellent mathematical, analytic, programming skills.
  • Previous experience in computer vision, machine/deep learning would be advantageous. Alternatively or in addition, experience in distributed ledger technologies (DLT) such as Blockchain particularly in use cases where it has been combined with AI or signal processing.

Offered Benefits

Funding will provide an annual tax-free stipend at the current EPSRC funding rate of £18,622 (for 2023-24) and coverage of the tuition fees for 3.5 years.

  • How to Apply: For taking advantage of this bursary, aspirants are recommended to take admission in the PhD degree at the university. After taking confirmation, Applications should be submitted via the Vision, Speech and Signal Processing PhD  programme page.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants should include a copy of their CV, transcripts, a copy of passport.
  •  Admission Requirements: Applying at the University, claimants need to meet the minimum  entry requirements.
  • Language Requirement: For non-native English speakers: An average score of 6.5 with each individual category at least 6.0 in an Academic IELTS test not older than two years.
