The University of Exeter’s Nutritional Physiology Group within the Department of Sport & Health Sciences is inviting applications for the Fully-Funded PhD Studentship offered by Marlow Foods.

The aim of the present studentship opportunity is to perform a series of studies examining the ability of high(er) protein, low energy diets, predicated either on animal or mycoprotein food sources, with or without exercise interventions, to facilitate weight loss and weight maintenance in overweight and obese adults.

Offered Benefits

  • This award provides annual funding to cover Home tuition fees and a tax-free stipend. For students who pay Home tuition fees, the award will cover the tuition fees in full, plus at least a £16,062 per year tax-free stipend.
  • The conditions for eligibility for home fees status are complex. You will need to seek advice if you have moved to or from the UK (or the Republic of Ireland) within the past three years or have applied for settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

  • Names of two referees familiar with your academic work. You are not required to obtain references yourself. We will request references directly from your referees if you are shortlisted.
  • If you are not a national of a majority English-speaking country, you will need to submit evidence of your proficiency in English.
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants for this studentship must have obtained, or be about to obtain, a First or Upper Second Class UK Honor’s degree or the equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK in nutrition, physiology, sports science, biochemistry, or related discipline. An MSc would be desirable.
  • Language Requirement:  If  English is not your first language, you must meet the required level (Profile B) as per guidance at the University of Exeter.
