The University of Liverpool’s Acoustics Research Unit is offering a fully funded International  PhD Studentship in Acoustics (sound and vibration), supported by Professor Malcolm Crocker. This position includes full tuition and a £19,000 annual stipend for 3 years and 3 months.

The scholarship is open to both UK and international applicants with a BA and MA (or equivalent) or relevant professional experience. Applicants must submit a strong research proposal in engineering acoustics, meet English language requirements (IELTS 6.5 overall), and provide two academic references.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Acoustics, Sound and Vibration, within the broader subject area of Architecture, Building, and Planning.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Hold a BA and MA (or equivalent) or demonstrate equivalent professional experience.

    • Submit a research proposal aligned with engineering acoustics (e.g., automotive, marine, aeronautical industries).

    • Have relevant academic or professional background in acoustics, vibration, or related fields.

    • Provide two academic references.

    • Meet the English language requirement (IELTS 6.5 overall, no component below 6.0 or equivalent).
