The University of Copenhagen’s Centre of African Studies is offering International PhD Scholarship in Multiple Waterscapes in Urban Ghana. This three-year, fully funded opportunity includes fieldwork in Ghana, conference participation, and a competitive salary.
The funding program is open for students from all around the world who wish to complete a PhD degree program at the university. Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD program at the Centre of African Studies
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Master’s degree in African Studies, anthropology, development studies, geography, urban studies, or a related field (120 ECTS or equivalent).
- Demonstrate the ability for independent research, typically evidenced by a Master’s thesis or similar work.
- Possess high-level skills in written and spoken academic English.
- Develop a PhD project proposal that aligns with the broad aims of the MUWUG project and situates itself within one of the defined site typologies in Kumasi, Ghana.
Offered Benefits
PhD students will receive a salary according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, starting at approximately 30,700 DKK/month (roughly 4,100 EUR), plus 17.1% pension. The scholarship includes funding for fieldwork and conference participation, as well as opportunities for teaching and involvement in project meetings and workshops.
