The Dublin City University (DCU) is now accepting applications for the International PhD Research Studentship in Diaspora Geography for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree (or equivalent) in geography, international politics, sociology, anthropology, or a related discipline. They should demonstrate strong research potential, an interest in diaspora and migration studies, and the ability to carry out fieldwork both in Ireland and India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD in social and political geography, with a focus on diaspora studies

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in geography, international politics, sociology, anthropology, or a related field

    • Demonstrate research interest in diaspora studies, diplomacy, or migration-development

    • Show potential for independent, interdisciplinary research

    • Be capable of conducting fieldwork across Ireland and in India

    • Be willing to reside in Ireland and commute to Dublin

    • Experience with participatory methods and proficiency in an Indian language are advantageous but not mandatory.
