The PhD Candidate Biopsychosocial Factors in Chronic Skin Conditions scholarship aims to delve into the psychological dimensions of chronic inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis and atopic eczema, prevalent among over 2.5 million individuals in the Netherlands. The program seeks to investigate the intricate relationship between psychological factors and the severity of skin conditions, including their impact on treatment outcomes and patients’ well-being.Application Deadline: 5 May 2024

  1. Hold a Master’s degree (preferably Research Master) in Health and Medical Psychology or a closely related study program.
  2. Possess good social and communication skills with enthusiasm for collaborating across different fields.
  3. Demonstrate affinity with the medical field and/or interest in understanding chronic medical conditions, particularly chronic skin conditions.
  4. Proficiency in analytical, methodological, and statistical skills (e.g., SPSS, R).
  5. Show interest in working with psychophysiological measures (e.g., standardized itch inductions).
  6. Fluent in spoken and written English and Dutch (core tasks are in Dutch).
  7. Obtain the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) within two years if not already held.
