Intending to encourage and support the education of students in Italy, the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is offering the International PhD Position in Biomedical Optics for the academic session 2025/2026.

Applicants must hold a master’s or equivalent degree in (Applied) Physics with a strong interest in biomedical optics.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Biomedical Optics under the Faculty of Science

  • Admissible Criteria:

    • A master’s or equivalent degree in (Applied) Physics

    • Strong interest in biomedical optics

    • Solid background in physics and optics

    • Excellent experimental and analytical skills

    • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)

    • Willingness to contribute to research on developing fiber-optic systems, catheter designs, data algorithms, and imaging models

    • Motivation to work in a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Offered Benefits

  • A full-time PhD contract (38 hours/week) for four years, starting with a 1-year contract
