International PhD Fellowship in Journalism and Media Studies, Norway Established in 2003, Metropolitan University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Sylhet (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Metropolitan University (MU) is a very small (uniRank enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Metropolitan University (MU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 16 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this Bangladeshi higher education organization a somewhat selective institution.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any subject offered by the university within the field of journalism and media studies
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a Master’s degree in journalism, media and communication, or other relevant MA degrees (120 ECTS), with a grade of B or better. MA degrees of 90 credits can also be assessed in special cases.
  • Good analytic skills, capacity for independent work, cooperative skills, and professional engagement.
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
  • Admission to the Faculty PhD program is required for acceptance to this fellowship position. A final plan for a PhD education must be approved and agreed upon within three months after accession.
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience within AI research and/or development.
  • Relevant experience with media research, production, and/or development.
