The University of Stavanger is offering a PhD Fellowship in Industrial Economics at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Safety, Economics and Planning. Starting in January 2026, this fully funded position provides a unique opportunity for aspiring researchers to pursue a PhD focused on improving domestic processing of Norwegian seafood.

To be eligible, applicants must have a five-year master’s degree in Economics or a related field, preferably completed recently. They must have a strong academic record, with grades equivalent to a Norwegian B or better. Good English language skills are required. Candidates completing their degree by spring 2025 may also apply.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Industrial Economics, with the PhD programme enrolled under the faculty’s Science and Technology umbrella.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Hold a five-year master’s degree in Economics or a related field (or equivalent qualifications).

    • Have a minimum grade equivalent to a Norwegian B (for both the master’s thesis and overall average).

    • Demonstrate strong motivation and research potential in industrial economics, international trade, or econometrics.

    • Be able to work independently, be creative and structured, and thrive in both team and individual research settings.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in English (minimum scores: TOEFL iBT 90, IELTS 6.5, or equivalent).
