The Asia Program at ISDP offers the opportunity for university professors, researchers, and other professionals with a background in international relations and Asian Studies to spend research time in Stockholm, for periods from 1 to 12 months. Visiting researchers may conduct research on a topic related to the academic research programme of the institute, or join our projects linked to the various conflicts, complex security and development challenges in the Asian region focusing on Northeast, Southeast and South Asia.
Visiting researchers are "scholars in residence" who participate in the activities of ISDP. Researchers are expected to contribute seminars, and participate in workshops, conferences and other activities such as informal meetings and roundtable discussions.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are welcome from any country, and from both men and women with capabilities and experience in academia, government and/or regional organisations. Applicants must be able to demonstrate academic development through publications and professional achievement.
Applicants are invited to submit a five-page project proposal within the subject of Asian security, together with a brief curriculum vitae.
Offered Benefits
Visiting researchers are assigned office space, computer facilities, and access to the materials at ISDP. Although visiting researchers are required to arrange their own travel, housing and health insurance, ISDP will provide advice to help facilitate the search process. There is no financial support available from the Institute for the position of visiting researcher.
