Indigenous Undergraduate Student Entrance Award at Simon Fraser University 2026 for Bachelor Founded in 1965, Simon Fraser University is a public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Burnaby (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), British Columbia. Required Documents:

  • Documentation of your Indigenous heritage: photocopy or scan of your Status or Métis card (front & back)
    • For those who do not have membership or documentation that verifies Indigenous ancestry for various reasons (i.e., due to colonization, displacement, non-status, adoption, etc.), we acknowledge that this may be a difficult or upsetting process. We will make every effort to ensure it is done in a culturally safe and trauma-informed way. Please contact the Indigenous Student Recruitment team, at  , or call (778) 782-5428 for support.                
  • One (1) Community Reference Letter

Instructions for Community Referee

In your reference letter, please include:

  1. Applicant’s full name and SFU student number (you can ask the student for this information)
  2. Referee Information: your full name, email address, phone number, organization name and relationship to the applicant
  3. Please describe the following:
    • The applicant’s contribution to their school and/or community;
    • The applicant’s leadership qualities and potential; and
    • Any other additional comments in support of the applicant.

As the applicant is applying for the Indigenous Undergraduate Student Entrance Award, please comment on their cultural contribution to the school and/or Indigenous community (500 words max).
