iCSS PhD Scholarships for International Students in UK Founded in 1965, University of Kent is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Canterbury (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South East England. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Medway, Paris, Brussels, Athens. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Kent (KENT) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Kent (KENT) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 54 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Available for pursuing a PhD degree program in the School of Computing, School of Engineering and School of Politics and International Relations
  • Admissible Criteria: The candidate must be interested in the given field.
  • A first or 2.1 bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree (or equivalent) with Merit or above in a relevant subject.
  • All applicants are considered on an individual basis and additional qualifications, professional qualifications and relevant experience may also be taken into account when considering applications.
  • Applicants from the UK, the EU and overseas are welcome. We also welcome applications from people with disabilities, people of all gender identities, and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) applicants.

Offered Benefits

The University of Kent will provide funding for three years at the current home fee rate of £4,405 or the overseas rate of £21,200 per annum together with a maintenance grant of £15,609 per annum (2022/23 figures).

  • How to Apply: The candidates are advised to take admission in a  PhD degree program at the university. After being enrolled, you can apply via the  online application process for this funding programme.
  • Supporting Documents: You will need to provide personal details, education, and employment history, and supporting documents:
  • Reasons for study
  • Outline research proposal
  • A properly formatted CV
  • Details/evidence of qualifications (including all university degree certificates and transcripts)
  • Two academic references
  • Other personal information and supporting documentation.
  • Applicants should write one research proposal on a self-selected topic for their application but should also indicate other topics they are interested in.
  • Admission Requirements: Students applying for a postgraduate degree must normally have a British first or second-class honours degree in a relevant or appropriate subject or the equivalent from an internationally recognised institution.
  • Language Requirement: The University requires all non-native speakers of English to reach a minimum standard of proficiency in written and spoken English before beginning a postgraduate degree. Certain subjects require a higher level.
