ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Partnership ? PhD Studentships ? Human Geography Pathway ? A collaboration between Aberystwyth, Cardiff, and Swansea Universities
The ESRC Wales DTP PhD studentship competition for 2017 entry is now open. We invite applications for 1+3 and +3 studentships, full time or part time, to be held at one of the above Universities, with opportunities for co-supervision between institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic eligibility: Candidates must have a good undergraduate honours degree at first or upper second class level in a relevant subject area.
Residential eligibility: To be eligible for a full award (stipend and fees), you must:
- have settled status in the UK, meaning there are no restrictions on how long you can stay
- have been ‘ordinarily resident’ in the UK for three years prior to the start of the studentship grant. This means you must have been normally residing in the UK (apart from temporary or occasional absences)
- not have been residing in the UK wholly or mainly for the purpose of full-time education. This does not apply to UK and EU nationals
To be eligible for a fees-only award, you must: be ordinarily resident in an EU member state, in the same way as UK students must be ordinarily resident in the UK
Offered Benefits
Full studentships cover the cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a tax-free maintenance grant (£14,296 per annum for 2016/2017 full-time students, updated each year). An additional £750 per annum is normally available for research expenses.
Please note: ESRC will not normally support any full-time student for more than four years or the part-time equivalent based on the student’s actual time commitment.
Application Process
To apply for a studentship, you must firstly apply for a place on the PhD Human Geography programme.
