To serve an excellent opportunity and motivation to its Law students, the School of Law at the University of Limerick has decided to award one postgraduate research fellowship – The Honourable Mr. Justice John Murray, PhD Fellowship for the academic year 2022-2023.

The School of Law has exclusively organized this Fellowship programme for domestic and international students that wish to undertake a postgraduate research study in law. One candidate will be selected and be awarded this Fellowship each year, covering an EU fee waiver plus a €5000 stipend for up to 3 years.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All domestic and international students can apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Postgraduate research degree study at the School of Law at Limerick can be applied.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must demonstrate successful academic progress to receive this fellowship for three years of study.

Offered Benefits

The University of Limerick will provide the selected students a stipend worth €5,000 and an EU fee waiver for one year initially, up to a maximum of 3 years, subject to successful academic progress.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Students must apply for admission online via the university portal. All applicants will be considered for the scholarship.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Qualification transcripts and certificates
  • Certified English translations of your transcripts/certificates where the originals are in a language other than English
  • A copy of your birth certificate (long document)
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have a second class honors in an undergraduate law degree or in another primary degree in which the legal component accounts for at least 50% of the whole programme.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit the necessary proof to meet the English language requirements of the university.
