The Henderson Rains Scholarship supports second-year engineering students at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. This scholarship is made possible by Wayne Rains and his wife Arlene Henderson. Wayne is a Kelowna-raised professional engineer who has had a successful career and made a significant contribution to the BC structural industry as the principal of Advance Precast. One scholarship, valued at $2,500, is awarded on the basis of a combination of factors including academic achievement, community activities, and a student statement.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students enrolled in their second year in the Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering) at UBC’s Okanagan Campus in Kelowna, BC.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in courses or in a co-op program for the current academic year.
  • Applicants must be full-time UBC Okanagan engineering students in the current academic year.
  • Previously successful applicants who still qualify under the criteria above are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
