CALL FOR APPLICATIONSSCHOLARSHIPS OF THE "ASSOCIAZIONE PER LA SAINT CAMILLUS UNIVERSITY ONLUS" FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES CITIZENSACADEMIC YEAR 2017-2018 OR 2018-2019Art. 1SCOPEThe "Associazione per la Saint Camillus University Onlus" (hereinafter referred to as Association for SCIUHS) awards scholarships for the soon-to-be-established Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences, located in Rome (Italy), to developing countries citizens for the academic year 2017-2018 or 2018-2019.The Association for SCIUHS is issuing a call for expressions of interest from aspiring students of the Saint Camillus International University of Health Sciences, which is not open yet.The aim of the Association for SCIUHS Scholarships is to train healthcare professionals who come from developing countries and will return to their countries of origin at the end of their academic studies to help solve the problem of the lack of healthcare workers in developing countries, thereby laying the foundations for a local medical assistance system.Candidates must be underprivileged developing countries citizens with extremely poor economic conditions and extremely difficult social and domestic situations.After their education, candidates must undertake to practice healthcare in developing countries facilities devoted to assisting the weaker sections in society.Art. 2ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA2.1. Country of OriginCandidates must be citizens of developing countries.The list of developing countries whose citizens may apply for the Association for SCIUHS Scholarships can be found on the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook Report (April 2015):http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/weo/2015/01/weodata/groups.htm2.3. FinancesAssociation for SCIUHS Scholarships are reserved for extremely impoverished students.Candidates shall submit evidence of their financial situation, proving that they do not have the resources to study in Italy without a scholarship. Such evidence will be verified in the course of the selection process.2.3. Academic QualificationsCandidates may apply if they have the academic qualifications required for enrolling.2.4. Language SkillsCandidates shall submit a self-certification of their knowledge of the English language, starting from the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which will be verified through a test.The knowledge of the Italian language is not required to enrol, as the university courses are provided mainly in English.Art. 3COURSES FOR WHICH IT IS POSSIBLE TO APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIPAssociation for SCIUHS Scholarships are granted for the following courses:a) Bachelor's degree (three-year degree) in:- Nursing;- Midwifery;- Physiotherapy;- Biomedical Laboratory techniques;- Imaging and Radiotherapy techniques.b) Master's degree (six-year degree) in:- Medicine and Surgery.Art. 4RENEWALSAssociation for SCIUHS Scholarships will be renewed yearly.The renewal is granted only to the students who certify they have passed the exams required for each academic year within set time period and have achieved good academic results.Art. 5SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONSApplications shall be sent electronically, by sending an e-mail to associazionesaintcamillus@pec.it containing a cover letter and a detailed resume.In their cover letter, candidates must clarify the intention to return to developing countries at the end of their academic studies and practice healthcare in facilities devoted to assisting the weaker sections in society.Art. 6SELECTION PROCEDURES AND AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS6.1. Selection of CandidatesThe applications shall be examined and selected by an ad hoc Committee that will be in charge of verifying the candidates eligibility.The Committee may at its discretion carry out long-distance motivational interviews.6.2. Award of ScholarshipsAssociation for SCIUHS Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of a comparative evaluation of the applications submitted, the requirements met and the criteria relating to the merit and/or the excellence of the candidate's cover letter and resume.Art. 7PROHIBITION OF RECEIVING MULTIPLE SCHOLARSHIPSThose who are granted an Association for SCIUHS Scholarship shall not concurrently receive any other scholarship.
