Hasselt University Mastermind Scholarships for International Students in Belgium Founded in 1971, Universiteit Hasselt (Hasselt University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Hasselt (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Limburg. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Diepenbeek. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Vlaams Ministerie van Onderwijs en Vorming, België (Flemish Ministry of Education and Training, Belgium), Universiteit Hasselt (Uhasselt) is a small (uniRank enrollment range: 2,000-2,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Universiteit Hasselt (Uhasselt) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities can apply
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a master’s degree in any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • The applicant should have a high standard of academic performance:
  • a Grade Point Average of 3.5 out of 4.0: www.scholaro.com/gpa-calculator/
  • or similar results in another official English language test;
  • Only students currently not enrolled at a Flemish higher education institution are eligible (except international students who are enrolled in a preparatory program to start a master’s program in September).
  • Applicant’s previous degrees should be obtained from a higher education institution outside Flanders.
  • Students who enroll for only a preparatory, bridging, or distance learning program are not eligible.
  • All nationalities can apply, but the previous degree obtained should be from a higher studies institution outside Flanders.
  • Students cannot combine this scholarship with another from the Flemish government or an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.

Offered Benefits

  • A Master Mind Grant includes a grant of €9 600 + a tuition fee waiver per academic year (60 ECTS).
  • The scholarship holders only pay an administrative enrolment fee.
  • The grant is paid in installments and covers accommodation costs, insurance, and a significant amount of their living expenses.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: To apply, applicants must complete the following steps:
  • Step 1: Submit a completed application file (including all the mandatory documents) for the relevant master’s program at UHasselt.
  • Step 2: Complete this Master Mind application form
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants need to upload the following documents in the application form:
  • Two recommendation letters from professors of your (previous) Home university, university, or recent employer written in English. Merge the two letters in 1 PDF document and upload the document to an online application.
  • Students applying for Master of Management or Master of Transportation Sciences must also upload their admission letter from Hasselt University.
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet all the following admission requirements to study at UHasselt.
  • Language Requirement: sufficient knowledge of the English language:
  • An overall band score of min. 7.0 on the IELTS test
  • A min. total score of 94 on a TOEFL test
  • A C1 level on the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
  • Online language tests of IELTS and TOEFL will also be accepted
