Griffith University International PhD Scholarships in Australia Established in 1971, Griffith University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Brisbane (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Queensland. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Logan, Gold Coast, South Bank and Mt Gravatt. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, Griffith University (GU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Griffith University (GU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded in PhD degree health research offered by the university.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Applicants must have completed, or expect to complete, a bachelor’s degree with honours (Class I) or a Masters’s degree (AQF Level 9) incorporating a substantial research component of a standard comparable to a Bachelor’s honours degree (Class I) or be regarded by Griffith University as having an equivalent level of attainment.  Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree with honours (Class IIA) or a Masters’s degree of a comparable standard together with research experience and/or research outputs (e.g. published research papers or been awarded research funding) will be considered. These degrees should incorporate a research component in biomedical science or related.
  • This scholarship is open to new and current domestic and international applicants.
  • To be successful in this role, you must be able to develop technical laboratory and methodology skills, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • A competitive candidate will have knowledge of ME/CFS and Long COVID, statistical software packages, and laboratory techniques.

The successful applicant will receive a stipend of $32,192 a year for up to 3 years of full-time study.

  • How to Apply: To begin the application process, new applicants must follow the process for submitting an online application for a higher degree by research program, which also includes a section for scholarship application. You can access the online application  here.
  • Supporting Documents: Candidates must submit all the following supporting documents:
  • Statement addressing your suitability for the project/scholarship
  • Transcript of latest degree completed that included a research component/dissertation.
  • A curriculum vitae (CV) using the  Griffith CV template.
  • All expressions of interest must be submitted to containing:
  • Admission Requirements: Students must meet the  entry requirements at Griffith.
  • Language Requirement: International applicants should ensure that English Language Proficiency requirements for the program are met before formally applying. Applicants to research programs will need to show they meet:
    1. A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS (Academic) with no band score less than 6.0 OR
    2. A minimum score of 575 on the paper-based TOEFL including a score of no less than 5.0 on the TWE OR
    3. A score of 79 on the internet-based (iBT) TOEFL with no sub-score less than 19.
