Greta Ostova Violoncello Scholarship


This Scholarship is a bequest of the late Greta Ostova, a former member of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and a distinguished musician and teacher. It was established in 1989.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Scholarship shall be open to students of the violoncello who have completed or will complete in the year of application any degree or diploma in music and specializing in violoncello performance at The University of Auckland. The Scholarship shall be awarded to a student intending to improve his or her violoncello skills overseas.
  • In exceptional circumstances and if there is sufficient funds available an Award may be made to a student in violoncello at the School of Music, The University of Auckland to assist in a short course of overseas study within their course of study at this University.
  • Each candidate shall be examined in performance.
  • Each candidate will be required to supply, one week in advance of the examination, an outline of the candidate's proposed study plans and itenary.
