GREAT Scholarships in Justice and Law for International Students at University of Strathclyde, UK for Master Founded in 1964, University of Strathclyde is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Glasgow (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Scotland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Strathclyde is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Strathclyde offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: China, Ghana, Malaysia, Pakistan
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for master’s degree courses in the following programs:
  • LLM Law, LLM/MSc Criminal Justice and Penal Change;
  • LLM/MSc Mediation and Conflict Resolution;
  • LLM Global Environmental Law and Governance;
  • LLM Human Rights Law;
  • LLM International Commercial Law;
  • LLM Construction Law.
  • Admissible Criteria: In order to be deemed eligible for the GREAT Scholarship for justice and law, candidates must meet all the following criteria:
  • Applicants must be available to commence academic studies in the UK by the start of the academic year in September 2023.
  • Applicants must have paid their tuition fee deposit before 28 June 2023.
  • Register as an international, fee-paying student and should be a passport holder of China, Ghana, Malaysia, and Pakistan.
  • Applicants must have an offer of study for a full-time, postgraduate law program at the University of Strathclyde.
  • Scholarship recipients must be willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.
  • Applicants should be passport holders of China, Ghana, Malaysia or Pakistan only.

Offered Benefits

The value of the scholarship is £10,000. The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee, subject to academic progression.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: To apply for this scholarship, applicants must complete the online application form via the link – Scholarship Application Form
  • Before applying for this scholarship, applicants must apply for a one-year postgraduate course.
  • To apply for the GREAT scholarship, applicants must write three separate questions (word count of 200 words per question) in the online application:
  • A GREAT scholar is one that acts as an inspiring ambassador for the University of Strathclyde. Tell them about a time that the applicant acted as an ambassador for their community (this could be any community you feel a part of).
  • Tell them about the accomplishment of which applicant feel most proud. Why does this make the applicant a good candidate for a GREAT scholarship?
  • They are looking to support an individual that plans to shape their future through learnings from their Master’s study. How will a Master’s program at the University of Strathclyde support applicants in achieving this goal?
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must provide all the required documents to support the application (where appropriate):
  • Certified copies of qualifications, e.g. degree certificate and transcripts (showing the subjects taken and grades). If applicants are still studying, provide a transcript of their results so far
  • If qualifications are in a language other than English, provide official translations in addition to copies of the original documents
  • If English is not the applicant’s first language, they must provide a suitable English language test certificate (if appropriate), for example, IELTS
  • A copy of the passport (if applicants are non-EU overseas applicants). Their passport is required in order to obtain their Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement which allows applicants to apply for their Tier 4 visa to study
  • A copy of the applicants’ sponsor letter/scholarship award (if appropriate/available)
  • Copies of any other documentation to support their application such as a CV, Personal Statement, Portfolio (for certain programs)
  • Admission Requirements: Entry requirements vary according to the subject areas. Applicants must check all the criteria course-wise via the link- entry requirements.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must check the English requirements before making their admission application. The University of Strathclyde accepts a number of English language tests as proof of proficiency in English. IELTS is the most widely available. Current standard requirements are:
  • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
  • Faculty of Science: IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
  • Department of Design, Manufacturing & Engineering Management: IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
