GREAT Scholarship for International Students at the University of St Andrews, UK for Master Founded in 1413, University of St Andrews is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium-sized town of St Andrews (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Scotland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of St Andrews is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 9,000-9,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of St Andrews offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: China, Ghana, Indonesia, Mexico, and Thailand
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The Scholarship will be awarded for a full-time postgraduate taught masters programs (MSc or MLitt) across all subject areas.
  • Available to faculty members from Art History, Biology, Chemistry, Classics, Computer Science, Divinity, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Economics and Finance, English, Film Studies, Graduate School, History, International Education Institute, International Relations, Management, Mathematics and Statistics, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology and Neuroscience, Social Anthropology
  • Admissible Criteria: To be qualified, the applicants must meet all the given criteria:
  • The program is available for all full-time (one year) postgraduate taught master’s programs but particularly encourage applicants to MLitt Global Social and Political Thought and MLitt Museum and Heritage Studies.
  • Applicants can have wide-ranging interests outside their studies.
  • A postgraduate applicant already has a Bachelor’s (BSc, BA or equivalent) and is coming to study for a further degree: Taught (MLitt, MSc)

Offered Benefits

Five awards are available, each worth £20,000 towards tuition fees for a full-time postgraduate taught masters programs (MSc or MLitt) across all subject areas.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Prospective students must have submitted their admission application for a place to a master’s studies. After receiving an offer to study at St Andrew’s, applicants can apply for the award.
  • When completing the application, applicants should include their reasons for applying for the award scheme, explain how they would expect to benefit from the opportunities the award provides, and describe how they think they might contribute to the community while studying at the University of St Andrews. Also include details of academic achievements which they believe would make them a good candidate for this award.
  • Supporting Documents: All applications must be submitted using the online form. The following supplementary documentation can be uploaded in the relevant section of the online application form:
  • CV or résumé
  • A personal statement or sample of academic written work in English
  • Two original signed literary references
  • Academic transcripts and degree certificates. Please only upload certified copies with official English translations if applicable. Do not send original documents, as they cannot be returned.
  • Evidence of English language proficiency
  • One personal and one academic or professional reference; two references in total.
  • Admission Requirements: Admission to a taught program is normally based on a good first degree with Honours from a UK university (or its overseas equivalent). More details can be found in the entry requirements and country information.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants whose first language is not English must provide  evidence of English proficiency.
