The Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR) Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all nationalities who are currently enrolled in degree programs. Applicants must propose a scientific research project and demonstrate a close working relationship with a faculty mentor. While both Sigma Xi members and non-members are eligible to apply, funding levels vary.

Founded in 1886, Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society is a prestigious organization dedicated to advancing scientific research and fostering collaboration among scientists. With over 60,000 members across 500 chapters worldwide, it recognizes excellence in science and engineering through membership, awards, and grants.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for research in any subject aligned with the applicant’s academic discipline

    • Be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students

    • Demonstrate a close working relationship with a research mentor

    • Be either a Sigma Xi member or non-member (funding differs accordingly)
