Global Citizen Scholarships in France for Master

To empower young, active global citizen-leaders who are engaged in the SDGs and may otherwise not have access to valuable educational opportunities, networking experiences, and peer-to-peer exchange, the Ban Ki-moon Centre has organized the Global Citizen Scholarships Program at the University of Bordeaux for the academic year 2022-2023.

The Ban Ki-moon Centre will select 15 young African global citizen leaders for the program who are passionate about taking action for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The selected scholars will receive a 500€ seed grant to support their project and will receive project management training and guidance throughout the project proposal and implementation process.

Global Citizen Scholarships in France for Master Founded in 1441, Université de Bordeaux (University of Bordeaux) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the medium-sized city of Bordeaux (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, and Morocco are eligible.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Master study programmes offered at the University of Bordeaux can be undertaken.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Applicants must be 25-30 years of age.
  • Applicants must be a graduate or doctoral/post-doctoral students OR be recent graduates of a master’s level degree or higher.
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong dedication to the SDGs (particularly SDG 11) and the ideals of global citizenship.
  • Applicants must provide evidence that they may otherwise not have access to such an opportunity.
  • Applicants must provide proof of a minimum English level B2 (European Standards)

Offered Benefits

The selected applicants will be provided the following benefits:

  • Full cost coverage for summer school training with the University of Bordeaux and coverage of skills training with MCI and other expert workshops.
  • A 500€ seed grant to support the implementation of an SDG Micro-Project to be distributed after the successful submission of a project proposal.
  • Certificate of Achievement awarded after completing the SDG Micro-Project signed by Co-chairs of the Ban Ki-moon Centre.
  • Alumni Network membership for scholars who complete the program and earn their certificate.
  • Further platforming of scholars and selected projects on RELX’s SDG Resource Centre, the BKMC website, social media, and international forums.

  • Current CV, including date of birth and nationality
  • Scan of passport or other formal ID
  • Proof of academic titles and/or enrolment confirmation
  • Letter of motivation (max 500 words)
  • SDG Micro-Project pitch
  • Admission Requirements: The students must meet the entry requirements of the university and the course they wish to enroll in.
  • Language Requirement: The students must meet the language proficient depending on the course they apply for at the University of Bordeaux.
