Ghent University International PhD Position in Bayesian Statistics, Belgium Founded in 1817, Universiteit Gent (Ghent University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Ghent (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), East Flanders. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Students from all nationalities are eligible to apply for this application.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: PhD Position in Bayesian Statistics Applied to Topics in Microeconomics
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Candidates should hold a master degree in statistics or mathematics, be familiar with Bayesian hierarchical modelling, and should have an interest in applying these methods to questions in economics and decision making.
  • They should belong to the top 10% of their class.
  • Candidates with a master degree in economics or psychology will also be considered if they can show a strong quantitative background and advanced knowledge of Bayesian statistics.

Offered Benefits

The position provides a monthly scholarship of approximately €2.070 (net), social security (health insurance and pension contributions), end-of-year and holiday bonus, travel and computer equipment resources, and other benefits.

  • How to Apply: While applying for the grant the initial step is to apply for affirmation. For taking the affirmation right off the students are required needs to pick a PhD degree coursework at the university. After being enrolled at the university, claimants can apply for the fund by submitting their application through email to Prof. Ferdinand Vieider at [email protected]
  • Supporting Documents: To apply, please send a cover letter, CV, details of the master courses taken (including transcripts, grades, and comparative rankings) and, if available, some examples of research work (e.g., a master thesis).

  • Language Requirement: All seekers need to provide valid proof of the required level of Dutch at level B2 for the program.
