The University of Melbourne is pleased to announce the George Hicks Award opening of applications for the academic session 2025-2026 . This prestigious award is designed to support outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to community service.

To be eligible for the award, applicants must be domestic or international students currently enrolled as undergraduate students in Art within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne.

George Hicks Award in Australia Established in 1853, The University of Melbourne is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Melbourne (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Victoria. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in art-related subjects offered by the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Art within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music

    • Must be in the final year of their program (graduating year)

    • Selection is based on nomination by the Head of Discipline in consultation with academic staff and approved by the Dean.

Offered Benefits

A one-off payment of up to $2,000 to support the recipient’s academic and artistic development.

Application Process

No formal application is required. Eligible students will be automatically considered if enrolled in the award year.

Outcome Notification: Recipients will be notified at the end of the academic year.
