Fully Funded UKRI International PhD Scholarship in Psychology at Swansea University, UK Established in 1920, Swansea University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Swansea (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Wales. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, Swansea University is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Swansea University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationality
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for the PhD in Psychology
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at the 2.1 level and a master’s degree.
  • Alternatively, applicants with a UK first-class honours degree (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University) not holding a master’s degree, will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Country-specific information for European and international applicants 
  • Interested individuals with a 2.1 level undergraduate degree and master’s degree in Psychology or a closely aligned discipline (e.g., Social and Behavioural Sciences) to apply for this fully-funded PhD position.
  • Candidates should have strong quantitative research skills, including designing, conducting, and analyzing data from experiments.

Offered Benefits

Swansea University will provide the full cost of tuition fees and an annual stipend as the following:

  • This scholarship covers the full cost of tuition fees and an annual stipend of £17,668 (UKRI rate).
  • Additional research expenses will also be available.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: To apply, applicants must  complete an application online with the following information:
  • Course choice –select Psychology / PhD / Full-time / 3 Year / October
  • Start year – select 2023
  • Funding – a) ‘Are you funding your studies yourself?’ –select No. b) ‘Name of Individual or organization providing funds for study’ –enter ‘RS189 – PhD TRUE’
  • Supporting Documents: As part of their online application, applicants must upload the following documents (do not send these via email):
  • CV
  • Degree certificates and transcripts (if they are currently studying for a degree, screenshots of their grades to date are sufficient)
  • A sample of academic writing such as an essay or an excerpt from a dissertation
  • A brief cover letter stating suitability for the role
  • 500-word research proposal, setting out a sample research question (within the scope of the TRUE project) and the methods they would use to answer this research question; this should also include a brief description of the analytic approach that would be used to analyse the data.
  • Two references (academic or previous employer) on the headed paper or using the Swansea University reference form. Referees should cite their employment email address for verification of reference.
  • Evidence of meeting English Language requirements (if applicable).
  • Copy of UK resident visa (if applicable)
  • Admission Requirements: If applicants are holding a non-UK degree, see  Swansea University degree comparisons to find out if they meet the eligibility.
