Fully funded PhD Position in Understanding and Designing Nanomedicines-Membranes Interaction, Netherlands


Leiden University invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Nanomedicine-Membrane Interactions starting January 2026. The project, supervised by Prof. Daniela Kraft, focuses on understanding and designing nanomedicines for targeted drug delivery.

To be eligible, applicants must hold or be close to completing an MSc degree in Physics or a related field, with strong communication skills in English and the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Prior experience in soft matter, biophysics, quantitative image analysis, or Python programming is an advantage but not a strict requirement.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD in Physics with a focus on nanomedicine-membrane interactions.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Hold (or be close to completing) an MSc degree in Physics or an equivalent field.

    • Demonstrate strong communication skills in English.

    • Be able to work both independently and collaboratively.

    • Experience in soft matter, biophysics, quantitative image analysis, or Python programming is desirable but not required.

    • Show motivation for conducting original research and contributing to teaching activities (10% of time).
