Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from all nationalities are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The PhD award is offered in Tropical Ecology, Ecology, Biology, Forestry, or related fields under the Forest Ecology and Forest Management chair group at Wageningen University.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold an MSc degree in Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related discipline.

  • Have a strong interest in both plant and animal ecology, conservation, and restoration.

  • Be willing to conduct extensive fieldwork in tropical forests in Mexico.

  • Demonstrate intercultural and communication skills to collaborate with international and local research teams.

  • Show proficiency in English (C1 level); Spanish language skills are an advantage.

  • Possess or be willing to obtain a driving license.

  • Experience with acoustic monitoring or camera traps is an asset.

  • Familiarity with statistical programming (R) and data management is desirable.
