This scholarship aims to support outstanding scholars in pursuing research in the development, evaluation, and application of statistical methods for assessing higher-order brain interactions in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data. The PhD position seeks to advance research in statistical methodologies for analyzing complex brain interactions using fMRI data. Fully-funded International PhD Position in Higher-Order Statistics for Neuroscience, Netherlands Established in 1880, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Free University Amsterdam) is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Amsterdam (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), North Holland. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
  • Admissible Criteria: Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Hold or expect to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mathematics or equivalent.
    • Possess good communication skills in English.
    • Not have resided or carried out the main activity in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date (specific to the BeyondTheEdge eligibility criterion).

Offered Benefits

The successful applicant will receive a competitive salary, including a minimum gross monthly salary of €2770 (at the start) and a maximum of €3539 per month (in the fourth year). Additionally, the position offers various fringe benefits, including holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, and contribution to commuting expenses. The appointment is initially for one year, extendable for a further three years based on satisfactory performance.
