Fully-Funded IES – International Excellence Scholarship Program for Overseas Students in Germany Established in 1991, Universität Potsdam (University of Potsdam) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the large town of Potsdam (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Brandenburg. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur, Brandenburg (Ministry of Science, Research and Culture, Brandenburg), Universität Potsdam is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Universität Potsdam offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students of all subjects (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD)
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Be a student (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate) at the time the scholarship begins.
  • No older than 28 at the time the scholarship begins.
  • The scholarship holders get a place at the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin, Berlin School of Economics and Law or the University of Potsdam.

Offered Benefits

As part of the IES program, COPERNICUS BERLIN offers 3 funding opportunities: Full Scholarship, Partial Scholarship Plus, and Partial Scholarship.

1) The Full Scholarship consists of the following parts:

  • Pocket money is paid monthly
  • Health insurance costs are reimbursed
  • The costs for accommodation, enrollment, liability insurance, educational trips, social meetings, administration, welcome package, cultural events, international seminars, advice, support and workshops are covered directly by COPERNICUS BERLIN.

2) The Partial Scholarship Plus consists of the following parts:

  • Pocket money is paid monthly
  • The costs for accommodation, enrollment, liability insurance, educational trips, social meetings, administration, welcome package, cultural events, international seminars, advice, support and workshops are covered directly by COPERNICUS BERLIN.

3) The Partial Scholarship consists of the following parts:

  • Pocket money is paid monthly
  • The costs for enrollment, liability insurance, educational trips, social meetings, administration, welcome package, cultural events, international seminars, advice, support and workshops are covered directly by COPERNICUS BERLIN.
  • The costs for accommodation for two months (EUR 1,650) must be paid, the rest will be covered by COPERNICUS BERLIN.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: The application process consists of three stages:
  • 1) Online application via the Application Form
  • Application period: October 1st – December 30th (for the following winter semester), April 01 – June 30 (for the following summer semester). Only successfully passed applicants will be informed about the next step
  • 2) Tasks Phase: The selected candidates are given specific tasks to complete, including a tutorial task via a YouTube channel. Only successfully passed applicants will be informed about the next step
  • 3) Interview Phase: The selected candidates will be invited to the Skype interview.
  • Supporting Documents: The following documents are required for a successful application:
  • 1) Complete the tabular curriculum vitae (CV) with the photo. It should be written chronologically and in German or English.
  • 2) University certificates in the original language  (also called Transcript of Records, study book) is the provisional overview of grades for all university subjects, which you receive at the end of each semester after successful examinations.
  • Admission Requirements: At the time of application, the candidates need to be enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master or PhD program at a university. There are no subject restrictions.
  • Language Requirement: Knowledge of German language skills of at least B1 or English language skills of at least B1.
