The University of East Anglia and the British Library are pleased to announce the availability of a Fully-Funded Collaborative Doctoral Studentships in Origins and Development of the Cotton Collection from October 2022.

The award holder will be based at UEA, and will also be based at the BL for a significant proportion of the studentship. This CDP offers a unique opportunity to produce an original piece of research on the origins and/or seventeenth-century development of Cotton’s extraordinary collection.

Fully-funded Collaborative Doctoral International Scholarships in UK for PhD Established in 1963, University of East Anglia is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Norwich (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), East of England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of East Anglia (UEA) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of East Anglia (UEA) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 56 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: PhD degree will be awarded in Origins and Development of the Cotton Collection offered by the University.

Offered Benefits

The award pays tuition fees up to the value of the full-time home UKRI rate for PhD degrees. Research Councils UK Indicative Fee Level for 2022/2023 is £4,596. UEA has agreed to waive the fee difference for international students.

The award pays full maintenance for all students, both home and international. The UKRI National Minimum Doctoral Stipend for 2022/2023 is £16,062, plus a CDP maintenance payment of £550/year, plus a London-partner allowance of £1000/year.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Students must have to enroll in the  PhD degree programme at the University of East Anglia. After that, you are eligible to apply for the award.
  • Supporting Documents: Students must submit the academic transcripts of all the previous schools they attended and a copy of their passport.
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants should ideally have or expect to receive a relevant Masters-level qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience in a professional setting. Relevant disciplines may include, but are not limited to, English Literature, History, Art History, Classics, Modern Languages, and Library and Information Science.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the library sector and both potential and enthusiasm for developing skills in related areas.
  • Language Requirement:  If English is not your first language or you may be required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.
