Full Masters Scholarships for Arab and Egyptian Students at Helwan University Founded in 1975, Helwan University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Cairo (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Egypt, Helwan University is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Helwan University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. This 44 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 80-90% making this Egyptian higher education organization a least selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Tourism, Architecture, Conservation or (Art) History, or equivalent qualifications (The equivalence of other study degrees has to be determined by the program’s administration).
  • Adequate proficiency in English language. (Check the programme website for the full list of required documents)

Offered Benefits

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awards monthly scholarships (500 Euros per month for 24 months) to students from Egypt and for Arab nationals currently residing in Egypt and affected by civil war (Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq).

Number of Scholarships: 10 full scholarships for Arabs and 5 full scholarships for Egyptians are available for the academic year 2017-2018. Scholarship holders are exempted from tuition fees.

  • A complete and signed application form
  • Copy of the higher education entrance qualification (English or Arabic) (e.g. Secondary School Leaving Certificate, High school diploma, university entrance examination, one or two years of studying etc.)
  • Certified copy of the Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification (English or Arabic) (e.g. FHdiploma) preferably in the area of Archaeology, Tourism, Architecture, Conservation or History, or equivalent qualification
  • Certified copy of the transcripts of records (list of subjects taken) (English or Arabic)
  • Hand signed Curriculum vitae (CV) (Please attach all certificates of mentioned work experiences, trainings, internships and engagements)
  • Hand-signed letter of motivation (with reference to current occupation) with preciseº description of the academic/professional and personal reasons for wishing to participate in the programme
  • Two letters of recommendations (e.g. from previous professor/supervisor/employer)
  • Certificate of proficiency in English
  • Explanation of the grading system
  • Copy of valid id / passport
