The Fulbright Canada Student Entrepreneurship Award is an opportunity for U.S. students who are eager to pursue graduate study in Canada while also exploring or advancing entrepreneurial initiatives. Offered as part of the Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Initiative (FCEI), this award provides not only funding for the first year of graduate-level study, but also structured entrepreneurial support to help students transform bold ideas into real-world impact, fostering positive social and economic change.
 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be U.S. graduate students who are planning to enroll in a graduate program in Canada, enrolled in a graduate program in the United States and planning to undertake field research in Canada, or early career independent researchers who have innovative ideas with potential for significant social impact.
  • Applicants must also meet the  Fulbright Canada Student Award eligibility criteria.

Application Process

Create an  online application for the Fulbright Canada Student Award.

Select the Fulbright Canada Student Entrepreneurship Award when completing your application.

Include a paragraph in your project statement to show your interest in applying for the Fulbright Canada Student Entrepreneurship Award.

Entrepreneurship Paragraph Guidelines

  • Describe how your proposed project relates to entrepreneurship, innovation, commercialization, or applied research. Explain how your academic work connects to entrepreneurial practice.
  • Explain how participation in the FCEI will support you personally and professionally. What do you hope to gain from the entrepreneurial support and North American exposure?
  • Share how you plan to engage with host institutions, entrepreneurs, innovation hubs, or sector leaders during your residency. This may include field research, networking, exploratory meetings, or preliminary partnership building.
  • Identify what entrepreneurial resources or support you would find most useful, e.g., business modeling tools, mentoring, accelerator guidance, investor feedback, or strategy development assistance through StartupScience.IO or Alacrity Canada.
