FRAXA Research Foundation Fellowships


The FRAXA Research Foundation invites applications for Fellowships, Clinical Trial Grants, and Curative Therapy Research projects focused on Fragile X syndrome. Fellowship applications are due February 1, 2026.

Applicants from any country may apply through a university, hospital, or non-profit research institution. Projects must focus specifically on Fragile X syndrome, with priority given to translational, clinical, or curative research. A Letter of Intent to FRAXA’s Chief Scientific Officer is required before submitting an application, and fellowship proposals are limited to one per laboratory.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Fragile X–related research, including:
  • Clinical trials involving human Fragile X participants

  • Curative therapies (gene therapy, gene repair/reactivation, ASOs, mRNA therapeutics, protein replacement)

  • Translational and preclinical Fragile X research

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Applicants must be affiliated with a university, hospital, or non-profit research laboratory

  • Research must be focused explicitly on Fragile X syndrome

  • Fellowship applicants must demonstrate adequate institutional and laboratory support

  • Only one application per lab group is permitted for fellowships

  • Proposed model systems (animal or cellular) must already be established in-house

  • A Letter of Intent to Dr. Michael Tranfaglia (Chief Scientific Officer) is mandatory before submitting any application.
