Finder University PhD Scholarship National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training Established in 1966, Flinders University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large city of Adelaide (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), South Australia. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Australia
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for students’ skills in mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering and/or earth sciences. Several projects are available studying physical and chemical issues associated with water movement through heterogeneous geological materials.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Be an Australian citizen; or New Zealand citizen; or have been granted permanent resident status; and
  • Applicants must be available to commence as a full-time PhD student at Flinders University in semester 2, 2023;

Offered Benefits

The scholarship includes:

  • A stipend valued at $40,000 per annum tax-free – Proposer to identify stipend value. The scholarship will be awarded for up to 3.5 years.
  • A Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship to cover tuition fees for Australian Citizens, NZ Citizens and Permanent Residents.

  • How to Apply: To apply for the scholarship, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest via email at , including the following documents (pdf or Word only):
  • A cover letter, addressed to Prof. Peter Cook, National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, referring to this project call, and summarizing your research experience;
  • Curriculum vitae, and
  • Academic transcripts
  • Supporting Documents: To submit an Expression of Interest, applicants must attach the following documents:
  • A research proposal approximately 500 words in length
  • A complete copy of the application and all supporting documents including your CV
  • Certified copies of academic transcripts for all studies attempted, except study at Flinders University
  • A summary of your research experience including details of any publications, research grants, or employment experience relevant to your proposed research project.
  • Send the application (including the checklist and application form) with supporting documentation to the contact person listed on the individual scholarship webpage
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet PhD admission requirements including:
  • Have an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A or equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8),
  • Including a research component of at least 6 months of full-time study achieving Distinction (75%) OR
  • Including evidence of equivalent research experiences, such as a substantial first-author refereed publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant
  • Language Requirement: English language skills are required to study PhD at Finder University.
