The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Engineering is inviting ambitious and talented students from Southeast Asia to pursue their PhD studies with the support of the Faculty of Engineering Research Scholarships. This prestigious award aims to empower the brightest minds to engage in cutting-edge research, contribute to innovation, and shape solutions to global challenges.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be citizens of a Southeast Asian country, hold a first-class honours degree or equivalent, and have an unconditional offer to pursue a full-time PhD within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney. Candidates are also required to withdraw applications for other University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships.

Faculty of Engineering Research Scholarships for Southeast Asia, Australia for PhD Established in 1850, The University of Sydney is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Sydney (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), New South Wales. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, The University of Sydney (USYD) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. The University of Sydney (USYD) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Citizens from Southeast Asia

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Scholarship will be awarded for PhD study in any discipline offered by the Faculty of Engineering, University of Sydney

  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must:

    • Be a citizen of a Southeast Asian country

    • Hold a first-class honours degree or equivalent

    • Have an unconditional offer of admission for a full-time PhD program in the Faculty of Engineering

    • Withdraw applications for other University of Sydney RTP scholarships (Stipend or Tuition Fee Offset)

Offered Benefits

  • A stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney’s Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate per annum (indexed on 1 January each year) for up to 3.5 years (no extension).

  • Full academic course fees and Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) for up to fourteen research periods (no extension).

Application Process

Applicants from Southeast Asia applying for admission to a PhD in the Faculty of Engineering will automatically be considered for this scholarship. A separate application is not required.
