Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Linguistics and English Language or closely related fields where Linguistics is central.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a UK 2:1 honours degree or international equivalent in Linguistics or a closely related discipline

  • Strong academic performance at undergraduate level

  • Background in linguistic fieldwork, descriptive linguistics, or language documentation

  • Solid knowledge of phonetics, phonology, morphology, and syntax

  • Experience with tone, suprasegmentals, and/or non-concatenative morphology

  • Meet the University of Edinburgh’s English language requirements

  • Familiarity with West Nilotic languages is an advantage but not mandatory
