TU Dresden, University of Lisbon and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education is delighted to offer Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Scholarships Programme in Groundwater and Global Change – Impacts and Adaptation (acronym GroundwatCH). Students from Programme Countries as well as from Partner countries are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
On average 13 EM JMD scholarships per year will be awarded. Between 10 and 15 Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available on a competitive basis.
If student’s country is not among the countries in the exemption list they are requested to do the English test. The only exception that university make is if they did their BSc study in a country that belongs to the list for which a language certificate is not required.

Eligibility Criteria

The Erasmus+ JMD Programme in Groundwater and Global Change – Impacts and Adaptation (GROUNDWATCH) has the following admission requirements:
- Proof that the applicant has successfully accomplished a first degree of higher education equivalent to a B.Sc. degree (equivalent to 180 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)) with a good final mark in one of the following subjects: geologic, hydraulic, civil, environmental or agricultural engineering, geosciences, environmental sciences, climate sciences, geography, geology, or any other similar subject.
Note A.1Applications may already be submitted before the first degree of higher education (usually B.Sc.) has been successfully finished, if at least 120 ECTS of the programme have been successfully completed. If the applicant meets all of the other admission requirements, admission can be granted on the condition that the first degree of higher education must be successfully finished by 15 August.
- Evidence of qualification in one of the internationally-recognised English language tests.
Note B.1
Applicants who are required to provide proof of English language proficiency who do not yet possess the results of the test can apply for admission and scholarship now, however, the ultimate deadline that the test result should be in our possession is 1 April 2017. Those applicants will also be taken into consideration for scholarship award and can be selected for scholarship or placed on the reserve list. If, no sufficient English test results have been received by 1 April 2017, the scholarship offer will be cancelled and next candidate from the reserve list will be selected.
- Basic academic knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry, proven by the list of subjects taken during the B.Sc. or equivalent course, is strongly preferred.
Application Process

Required documents (1):
- Photocopy(ies) of academic diploma(s)(translated in English (if applicable)) (2);
- Certified academic transcript(s), translated in English (if applicable);
- Curriculum Vitae including work experience and research record (if any);
- Letter of Motivation stating the applicant’s interest in the study programme;
- Two letters of recommendation, not older than six months either by two university teachers or by one university teacher and by one employer, or by internationally recognised scientist(s); if preferred, these letters can be sent anonymously to the email address:Erasmus-at-unesco-ihe.org; in that case a letter with a brief statement indicating this preference can be submitted instead of the recommendation letter in the online submission form.
- Results of an English language test proving you comply with the programme’s language requirements(3).
- Only PDF, Word/Doc and JPEG files with a maximum file size of 2 MB per file will be accepted.
- In case you have not yet obtained your BSc degree, and you are in the last year of your study, please attach a statement of your university confirming that you are in the last year of your BSc study (instead of copy of your BSc diploma) and stating that you are expected to graduate before 15 August 2016. Also attach the transcript showing the subjects you followed and the marks and ECTS obtained so far.
- Citizens from certain countries are exempted from taking an English language test (see the admission requirements). Candidates from countries where English is the language of instruction in higher education, but which are not on the list of exempted countries, are required to attach the English language test results.
