EPSRC I-CASE Scholarships in Aero-Engine Rotordynamics for UK and EU Students, UK for PhD


With the purpose of supporting its aim of helping students, the University of Nottingham has started accepting applications for the EPSRC I-CASE Studentships in Aero-Engine Rotordynamics.

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham and Rolls-Royce plc are seeking an enthusiastic and self-powered student with both excellent analytical skills and a good sense of what is practicable to undertake a PhD in Aero-Engine Rotordynamics.

  • Eligible Course or Subjects: PhD degree in Aero-Engine Rotordynamics: Robust approaches to damping provisions in aero-engines.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the given criteria:
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are required, along with a keen interest to engage in industry-focussed research.
  • The applicant should be a UK or EU student.

Offered Benefits

 Successful scholars will receive a salary in the UK. The student will gain a broad range of experience and skills spanning the development and use of dynamic models, the design processes involved with critical hardware, some experimentation, and modern techniques in data analysis.

  • A copy of your CV
  • An example of your technical writing
  • Contact details for two academic referees
  • A research proposal – max 2 x sides A4
  • A covering letter
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants should have a high (1st or 2:1) Honours Degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Language Requirement: The applicants are required to have the below-specified scores in the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS – 6.0 to 6.5
  • PTE – 55 to 68
  • TOEFL IBT – 79 to 100
  • CAE – 169 to 190
