Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin and Intake International Education Group (Taiwan) have launched an exclusive joint scholarship for the fall of 2024 to encourage Taiwanese students to study abroad.

Taiwanese students enrolling in a Trinity College Dublin PhD program for September 2024 have the opportunity to apply for joint scholarships offered by Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, and Intake.One of Europe’s leading research-intensive institutes, UCD is presently ranked 226th by the Times Higher Education World Rankings. The university is also a component of the National University of Ireland and now ranks 236th in Best Global Universities and 181st in QS World University Rankings 2023. UCD’s task is to foster a culture of discovery, invention, and innovation while seeking knowledge. UCD was established in 1854. Employment-based PhD Scholarships Programme for Health Science Professionals, Ireland Founded in 1845, University College Cork is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the large town of Cork (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), County Cork. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Skills, Ireland, University College Cork (UCC) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University College Cork (UCC) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the specified criteria:

Employer:

  • A healthcare or health sciences organization, business, company/industry, higher education institution, registered charity, or not-for-profit civic organization or semi-state commercial organization.
  • Financially independent of the University.
  • Willing to provide supports such as facilities and/or dedicated research time relevant to the PhD project.
  • Willing to provide a mentor/supervisor for the PhD candidate and work with supervisors at UCC.

Applicant:

  • An employee (full time/part time) employed as a health sciences or healthcare professional in an organization external to UCC.
  • Have obtained a standard of at least Second Class Honours, Grade I, in an approved primary degree, or other such evidence under the University’s policy for Recognition of Prior Learning for Admission to Research Degrees.
  • Meet the English language requirements for the College of Medicine and Health.

Supervisory Team:

  • Must include two members of UCC academic or research staff as per UCC policy on the Supervision of Research Students.
  • The lead supervisor must be a member of academic staff in CoMH for the duration of the project.
  • Should host a research program relevant to the area in the proposed PhD study.
  • Should include a co-supervisor from a distinct discipline to the lead supervisor to enhance multidisciplinary research.
  • Should include an early career researcher (desirable).
  • Have agreed to the scholarship and proposed study with the applicant’s employer.

Application Process

Prior to applying, candidates must arrange the following:

  • Identify a lead supervisor from a School/Department/Research Centre or Institute in the College of Medicine and Health at UCC, and an employment mentor/supervisor from the place of employment.
  • In consultation with the supervisory team and employment mentor/supervisor, identify a research project relevant to the area of employment and aligned with UCC Futures research themes.
  • Once the employer confirms support, a supervisory team has been established, and a project agreed, candidates can apply using the provided application form and submit it along with the required documents.
