Eastern's most prestigious award for incoming first-year students, the Presidential Scholarship, covers full tuition and room and board for four years (valued at approximately $100,000). Presidential Scholars are active and engaged members of The Honors College at EMU, complementing their academic college experience with further opportunities for critical thinking, community engagement, and leadership. Qualified students can apply for the Presidential Scholarship during their senior year of high school.

Eastern Michigan University 2025 Presidential Scholarship for International Students for Master Established in 1849, Eastern Michigan University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized town of Ypsilanti (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Michigan. Eligibility Criteria

  • High School Senior/Incoming Freshman for Fall 2025
  • Must have at least 1.) a 3.5 cumulative GPA and 2.) 25 composite ACT or 1200 SAT (Critical Reading + Math)
    • SAT/ACT requirements are waived for those with a GPA of 3.85 or higher
  • Must apply for admission to Eastern Michigan University and submit all official transcripts and test scores by the scholarship deadline.

  • Submit the  Presidential Scholarship Application Form
  • Submit the  Presidential Scholarship Essay Form 
  • Attend an Official Campus Visit
    • For eligibility, your visit must be completed during the 2024 calendar year. An official campus visit is considered a campus tour, an open house, or a virtual admissions event. Find our visit options at  emich.edu/visit.
    • The EMU Honors College will be offering special virtual sessions that will count for visit eligibility. These sessions allow interested students to talk with current Scholars about why they're glad they came to EMU and learn how to best prepare for the Presidential Scholars Competition. Register for any of the upcoming sessions below to save your spot:
      • October 16 at 7pm
      • November 7 at 7pm
      • December 3 at 7pm
