Durham University has announced the Khodorkovsky Scholarships program for the talented students. The funding program is designed for the academic year 2026/2027.

Applicants must be citizens of Russia and ordinarily resident in the Russian Federation. They should hold a first degree from a Russian university, be assessed as Overseas fee-paying students, and demonstrate outstanding academic merit. Candidates must intend to return to Russia after their studies to contribute to its development and promote east/west understanding.

Durham University Khodorkovsky Scholarships in UK Founded in 1832, Durham University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Durham (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), North East England. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Queen's Campus, Stockton-On-Tees. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, Durham University (DU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Durham University (DU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Russia

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for any in-person academic degree programme offered by Durham University.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Be a citizen of Russia and ordinarily resident in the Russian Federation.

    • Have completed a first degree at a Russian university in any subject.

    • Be assessed for Overseas tuition fees by Durham University.

    • Demonstrate exceptional academic merit or potential.

    • Intend to return to Russia after studies to contribute to its development and promote east/west understanding.

    • Apply for a full-time, in-person programme (online programmes are not eligible).

    • Have received an offer of admission by 31 March 2026 for entry in October 2026.

    • Note: Deferral of the scholarship is not permitted.

  • Full payment of annual tuition fees

  • Postgraduate stipend: £20,780 per year (UKRI rates 2025/26)

  • Undergraduate stipend: To be confirmed

  • Immigration Health Surcharge and Visa application fee (standard rates)

  • Funding duration matches the length of the academic programme.
