The Mark Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2024 Drug Discovery Award, offering financial and expert support for innovative cancer therapies. Open to independent researchers at non-profit institutions worldwide.

Applicants must be affiliated with a non-profit research institution and hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent, working independently within their institution. The award welcomes global applicants, focusing on projects aimed at developing new cancer therapies, specifically in large and small molecules, peptides, conjugates, and nucleic acids.The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research is a dedicated organization advancing innovative cancer research with the goal of transforming academic discoveries into impactful therapies. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants worldwide
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: This award supports research in cancer drug discovery
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Be affiliated with a non-profit research institution (for-profit companies are ineligible)
    • Hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent and be independent researchers at their institution
    • Be focused on the discovery of new therapeutic agents for cancer; eligible projects include:
      • Large molecules/biologics
      • Small molecules, peptides, conjugates, and nucleic acids
      • Lead discovery and optimization projects

Offered Benefits

The Drug Discovery Award provides up to $1,000,000 over a period of 12-36 months. The award supports direct and indirect costs, which cannot exceed 10% of the total direct costs. Selected applicants will benefit from guidance by seasoned R&D scientists in preclinical drug development, facilitating access to the expertise needed to advance their project milestones and enhance therapeutic advancements.

Application Process

The application begins with a 2-page concept letter outlining the project, which must be submitted by November 11, 2024. The submission portal opened on September 18, 2024, with invitations for full applications expected in January 2025. Specifics on the concept letter structure, including project objectives, unmet needs, and project plans, are outlined by The Mark Foundation.
