The University of Oslo is inviting applications for two Doctoral Research Fellowships in Ancient Philosophy as part of the ERC-funded project “The Mathematization of Nature (MatNat)”. This exciting opportunity allows motivated scholars to explore Plato’s cosmology, Presocratic philosophy, and early Pythagorean thought while contributing to a world-class research environment in Norway’s leading university.
The aim of the MatNat project is to explore the historical and philosophical development of mathematical physics from its roots in Plato and early Pythagoreanism. The doctoral researchers will contribute to understanding how ancient thinkers conceptualized mathematics as a framework for understanding nature.
