Founded in 1923, The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is an independent, international, nonprofit organization. The fellowships support dissertation research on peace, security, and development topics.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible Countries: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda can apply for this application

Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded in doctoral studies offered by the university.
Admissible Criteria: All applicants must:
- Applicants must be citizens of any sub-Saharan African country
- Students must be enrolled and working towards a PhD in an accredited university, or affiliated to an institution in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, or Uganda
- Holders must have a fully developed doctoral dissertation research proposal approved by a graduate school/program at an accredited university in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania or Uganda.
- The program seeks to promote diversity and encourages women to apply.
