Imperial College London is offering the Design Engineering PhD Scholarship (DEPS) for the 2026/2027 academic year. Three awards are available one covering full home fees and two covering full overseas fees along with a generous stipend of £21,237 per year for 3.5 years. This scholarship supports outstanding candidates pursuing innovative research within the Department of Design Engineering, with applications open to both home and international students.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must hold or expect to achieve a First Class Honours degree or a Distinction at Master’s level (or international equivalent) in a relevant field such as engineering, design, or a related scientific discipline. In exceptional cases, candidates with a 2:1 and significant research or industry experience may also be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is available for PhD study within the Department of Design Engineering at Imperial College London.

  • Admissible Criteria:

    • Hold (or expect to obtain) a First Class Honours degree or Distinction at Master’s level (or international equivalent) in engineering, design, or a related scientific discipline.

    • Applicants with a 2:1 (Merit) at Master’s level and substantial research or industry experience may also be considered.

    • Must be applying for a new PhD program in the Department of Design Engineering (continuing students are not eligible).

    • Applications are welcomed from individuals of all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups in STEM.
