The primary purpose of this programme is to support aspirants who want to undertake a research degree in October 2022. Worthy and needy applicants are eligible and can be awarded this €6,200 award and a fixed maintenance award of €10,000 [or €16,000] per annum.

Departmental Doctoral Scholarships at Maynooth University, Ireland for PhD Founded in 1997, Maynooth University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the medium-sized town of Maynooth (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), County Kildare. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Skills, Ireland, Maynooth University (NUI Maynooth) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Maynooth University (NUI Maynooth) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Ireland
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Full-time research degree will be awarded in any subject offered by the university.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Participation in Departmental activities as part of this scholarship is required to undertake teaching support duties for up to 240 hours per year, with generally no more than 4 hours in any one week. These activities will be carried out under the direction of the Head of Department or a member of staff nominated by the Head.

  • Full annual tuition fees support (approximately €6,200 per annum);
  • A fixed maintenance award of €10,000 [or €16,000] per annum;
  • Participation in Departmental activities as part of this scholarship is required to undertake teaching support duties for up to 240 hours per year, with generally no more than 4 hours in any one week. These activities will be carried out under the direction of the Head of Department or a member of staff nominated by the Head.

  • How to Apply: To be considered for this opportunity, students are required to take admission to the  PhD degree programme at the university.

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Research proposal (max. 4,000 words)
  • Relevant academic final transcripts
  • Admission Requirements:  Applicants musthave a relevant first-class or 2.1 honor in their primary degree or have a relevant master’s degree.
  • Language Requirement: Students must have fluency in English, both written and spoken, as per Maynooth University’s general requirements.
